Knowing the symptoms of each stage of prostate cancer will make people more aware of the threat of prostate cancer and it will also increase to diagnose the disease in earlier stage so that immediate treatment can be done. Aside from the condition of the tumor, there is also the Gleason score and the prostate specific antigen level or PSA that are used in the stage grouping of prostate cancer. Here are the stages of prostate cancer.

Stage I
The stage I or prostate cancer staging is where the tumor cannot be felt or seen with imagining test since it is still very small or the tumor can be felt through a digital rectal examination or ultrasound text but still very small. The tumor is still inside the prostate and has not spread to the nearby lymph nodes or other parts of the body with Gleason score lower than six and PSA level lower than ten.

Stage II
In the stage II of prostate cancer, the tumor can be felt by digital rectal exam or ultrasound and even though it still inside the prostate and has not yet spread outside it and into other body parts, it can be found in both sides of the prostate and the size is still quite small. The Gleason sore should be around seven with PSA level lower than twenty.

Stage III
The stage III of prostate cancer staging is the condition where the cancer has spread and grown outside the prostate to the seminal vesicle. Even though the cancer has spread, it has not yet reached the nearby lymph nodes or anywhere else inside the body. The Gleason score and the PSA level could reach any value.

Stage IV
The stage IV is the last and most lethal stage of any cancer and it cannot be treated unless with certain surgery. The condition of the cancer has spread and grown to the tissues near the prostate such as the such as to the urethral sphincter, the muscle that helps control the urination, to the rectum, the wall of the pelvis, or to the bladder. The cancer might not grow in the nearby tissue but instead to the lymph nodes near the prostate. It can also spread to other body parts that are further from the prostate and the initial place where it starts in the earlier prostate cancer staging.
